Webshield Question (Potential PC security issue?)

Hey all,

I’ve been using Avast for about a year now, and am overall satisfied with it. However, when I restarted my PC earlier, as soon as I connected to my Universities internet, opened Firefox, and logged into my email, Webshield blocked an HTML and Javascript downloader (two different ones) with a URL connected to a Czech website I’ve never been to. Could this be a browser hijacking initiated from my own PC that Avast blocked, or is it likely a purely external threat? I scanned all recently downloaded files and found nothing.

Thanks all. Any advice would be helpful.

welcome to the forum. it sound like you have been hit by something. download install, update and scan with malwarebytes antimalware and post the result here don’t forget to remove what it founds. might be asking for a reboot of the system if so do so.

a good start you can do here to begin with.

good luck and let us know on the progress or, if you need more help.

Seems I did have a little friend on my PC!

I’m unsure how to read the HijackThis log though.

But yes, thanks a lot! Hopefully, if there’s more malware on my system, I’ll have help rooting it out.

Anything I should do next?
