Surely the webshield should be allowing the message to display and not saying it is blocking the website, otherwise this could cause problems in making some people think it is webshields fault the page is not displaying.
The message is as follows (see below).
I was just saying that surly webshield should not be displaying its message as it is the website that times out/was refused, so therefore not webshields problem/fault.
Of course if I’m missing something simple and am making a fool of myself, please do let me know
Lee, it is common misunderstanding that the message with error code 502/504, as shown on your screenshot is some kind of an error of WebShield. It’s just WebShields way of showing you the information, that the requested page could not be reached. This behavior is requested by the HTTP protocol specification (RFC 2616). It can hardly display a messagebox, since it is not sure what application is requesting the page and whether such a messagebox is allowed to be displayed. WebShield also returns proper HTTP error code, which might be handled by the requesting application (Internet Explorer in this case), but that’s just about everything webshield can do.
As i have stated a couple of times, i already know the MSG error box is from firefox and not webshield, as i already knew the website was down, i was just confused as to why the error MSG box wasn’t showing when webshield was open ;), but lukor cleared that up for me, i understand what was happening now.
Anyway, this is all clear to me now, thanks all for your replies.
