website being deleted by Avast

I have an exe file that I need to use frequently. Avast deleted it completely when I opened it. How do I prevent this in future?

Hello,

go to Settings and the Global exclusions and add the folder or the file there.

I have Windows 7… sent to settings as suggested but there is no Global exclusions under settings.

OK.Go to settings>Antivirus and scroll down.

For Avast 8 go to Settings and Global Exclusions on the left.

Thanks Steven: hope this works. ;D

Hope it isn’t really an infect file. :o

I hope not.

If you want to check that upload the file to Virustotal.com and post the link here.

That should have been the first response, confirm/deny.

What do you mean avast deletes a website ?
Because it doesn’t have that functionality, it will alert to an infection on a website, and if downloading a file which it considers to be infected it will alert.

In both cases it will abort the connection and try to stop the infected element/file being saved on your system or it will send that copy to the virus chest. But the web page/site or the file will remain on the internet, it doesn’t get deleted.

Unless you changed the avast default settings or selected delete, the default action is to send the file to the virus chest.
