By that I mean if I go to a file using the explorer and scan it by right clicking and picking to scan the item with Avast, part of the right click menu remains, this doesn’t happen with any other option on that menu and only showed up on the most recent update of Avast.
Just tested it. It doesn’t happen here.
It seems to only happen here when I have Firefox open. So probably an error on my end as it didn’t happen on restart until I got my browser open.
I dug this out of my old snippits, whilst this is for avast 4.x, I just wonder if it might still work with the avast5.ini and avast 8:
- Menu, Display Remnants, Log Viewer Remnants, Graphics glitches, etc.
- Edit the C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\avast4.ini using Notepad [Common] section, add the following line to the section SunbeltKPFHack=2, save the file, you will be prompted by the avast! Self-defence module if this is OK answer Yes. Whilst this is primarily for Sunbelt or Kerio Personal Firewalls it may well work even if you don’t use either of these firewalls. You may need to reboot to have the changes in the avast4.ini file to come into effect.
Also see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=37609.msg315764#msg315764 - Also see, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=40840.msg342656#msg342656 which mentions a similar issue relating to McAfee Site Advisor and remnants of menus, etc.
I wonder if one of the avast team could comment on if it would still be valid in the avast5.ini and avast 8 .
Well I’ve been to the McAfee Site Adviser site but I don’t think I ever downloaded it and the issue never existed until this most recent update. It may be a problem with my GPU as I’ve been having a weird bleeding issue with Firefox at times now that I think about it.
I suspect it is more a GPU issue, I have gone for a new passive/silent graphics card which didn’t have as much grunt/bandwidth as my previous card, so I find that with the graphics hardware acceleration fully enabled I can get some graphics artefacts.
