Weird issue. Unable to detect whether another instance of Avast! is running.

I just installed avast on my Ubuntu 7.10 so I can scan files before I send them out to a Windows Box… but… I’m having an issue.

I just installed the program and when I go to Applications, Accessories to open it I run into this error that says… “Unable to detect whether another instance of Avast! is running.” Then right beneath that it’ll have the Serial Number prompt… I don’t understand.

Can someone help me out?

You need to register avast for Linux and add the key in the registration box.
Go to the SSL page version and register from there: https://secure.avast.com/scripts/register.php?lang=ENG

Yes… I already tried that. I have a KEY… It doesn’t work still. Program craps out. Now what do I try?

Can’t you install from the scratch?
Uninstalling avast using Synaptics or Kpackage or even the terminal?
