??? I’ve been noticing strange behavior when posting to several commercial blogs; things like momentary interruptions that appear to be link related and infrequent lost connections to the sites.
I just hate getting too paranoid as I really don’t mind if I’m actually receiving attention from some governmental or quasi-offical agency as it can only mean I’m saying something interesting enough to merit that attention. Ego ya’know ?
So, because this wierdness has been continuing to become more disruptive to my ability to communicate, I thought I might check to see if AVAST was actually doing its’ job of stopping others from tracking me as indicated by the top right icon. I logged in to the site where it has this nice tool to check the status of your devices. Interestingly enough, it indicated that my Win7 64-bit ver. user was unprotected and hadn’t been updated since 5-9-14. Curious. Every indicator AVAST on my desktop provides says I’m up-to-date and “protected”. I’m curious to know if there’s something I’m dong wrong or if I’ve got a more "interesting problem ?
It would help if you post a link to the site you’re talking about.
Hi Bob; I post on a few commercial blogs : Yahoo, The Guardian, Townhall and a local blog. I’ve noticed the lag and plain weird link-like behavior during my interaction with all the blogs. I have a FB account and a wordpress blog that I’ve never had any thing glitchy happen when posting there. A couple of days ago I got a message : "An attempt has been made to enter a protected area of AVAST ! (General program access). This may be a legitimate action, but could also be the result of a malware attack.
Do you wish to continue ?

Password ____________
Ummm… I never set any password and I can’t access any functionality or delete and re-install.
Suggestions ?
Someone set a password. It’s not there by default.
At this point you’ll need to do a clean install of avast!
Totally remove avast! including running the avast! Un-install utility
Once that’s done, reinstall avast!
Ok, I’ll give it a try. Thanks for the link, hope it works as I tried the usual methods to un-install programs, including the takeownership prog. with no satisfaction. No clue who, whom set a password - - it warn’t moi and my puter is not used by anyone ‘local’. I just hate being paranoid and I have to wonder…maybe stay off some of those ‘other’ sites ? (lol- I never d/l).
I’ll post back but, if I don’t get a solution, it’s the nuclear option as I have only a few games and little other than the OS and old songs from YouTube…and no pics or movies. Again, thank you for your efforts.https://forum.avast.com/Smileys/default/smiley.gif
Bob, Been taking the time to observe and try out some other suggestions from local ‘experts’. I’m still getting weird behavior when I’m logged on to other sites, slow response, intermittent redirect delays and an inability to connect to the StartPage.com search tool, in addition, I re-registered AVAST and attempted to perform the survey but, I cannot advance beyond the first question : “Do you live in the U.S.” I can live with all this, as long as I know I don’t have a rootkit or other nasty virus, I can chalk things up to Yahoo or my ISP doing something.
