No, I do not want to play! I don’t want to win a free license or teddy bear! :o
Go to Settings>Apperance and at the bottom disable the last 2 checkboxes to get away from these.
Will do. Thank you.
Well when you download Adobe XPlayer or other programs,
and you do not tag out the option, you will get McAfee Security Plus bundled with it.
Did this come with avast! downloads as well?
This is a 2 minute scan tool to trick users into getting additional McAfee products.
and it also tells you on every scan that your avast protection is OK.
I think the bundled McAfee Security Plus scanner is worse than what we have here - just a promotional scheme.
Everyone seems to be into these added junk nowadays.
It is a nuisance for the average common user as I see it.
But it is the profit model that counts and seems to have first priority in the vision of those that bundle.

I updated Adobe Shockwave today but I unticked Google Chrome. Didn’t show McAfee Security Plus scanner and I don’t have it installed on my computer. I do have McAfee SiteAdvisor.
Hi -midnight,
Well SiteAdvisor is an acceptable extension to have in the browser, while I would however prefer WOT or DrWeb’s URL checker extension.
Well now in case you or anyone else for that matter should end up with this McAfee Security Plus crap on your comp,
here is how to remove all traces of it.
To Remove the McAfee; just be sure to Reboot when you are finished. You can uninstall through the McAfee Security Scan Plus folder: Under Start menu, go to all Programs Open McAfee Security Scan Plus folder Select “Uninstall” Additional information is available in the McAfee Security Scan Plus FAQ sheet. see that here: http://us.mcafee.com/en-us/local/docs/adobe_mssp_faq.pdf You must be an Admin to Uninstallquote taken from ALICEWYMAN on Mozilla Support

Hi polonus,
I do have both WOT and DrWeb’s URL checker extension.
Don’t plan on ever having McAfee Security Plus on my computer but thanks for the info about how to remove it.

I also got that avast! popup instead of the usual VPS popup before yesterday. I do not think it got anything to do with " avast! recommendation features " or " Social networking features since I have both boxes unchecked.
I also think it does not have anything to do with adobe or the McAfee bundle with it since I do not have them either.
I have not gotten the same popup again though, but today I have a " Season sale to increase my security with AIS " popup instead of the usual VPS, twice, for 131128-0 and 131128-1.
Hi Hernan,
I.m.o. it would be a better thing if avast asked all installers of the program whether they want to be informed in such ways.
Whenever the user ticks this option user has opted in to such messages and offers/promotional messages.
These would now sort much more effect and the nuisance level for others would have been brought down to a minimal,

Damien,
This is an ongoing problem with the avast auto VPS update.
It’s on again off again with the sound and the real notification popup.
It has nothing to do with McAfee or anything else other than the VPS update notification problem.
Hi bob3160,
Thanks for setting this straight. Hope the ongoing problems will be solved,
