What are your OS software essentials?

I want to know what is everyone current essentials other than your antivirus, as for me is:

Malwarebytes
Spywareblaster
Firefox + NoScript
Windows Firewall

Others for other purpose:

CCleaner
Defraggler
Speccy

malwarebytes
comodo firewall

google chrome
firefox
opera

microsoft office
openoffice
ccleaner
defraggler

I also have these 3. Plus read my sig.

There’re other useful programs installed, but I wouldn’t call them essential. ;D
asyn

It’s in my sig

Snap.

But, all that doesn’t amount to a hill of beans if the dark brown stuff hits the fan.

If you haven’t got a robust backup and recovery strategy then all that is for nought.

A second internal hard drive plus a USB external hard drive works well for me. 8)

Visual C++ Express & Basic Express

Web Browser: Chrome (primary browser) & IE 8(IE 9 beta in the other)

edit: Forgot to mention LastPass, the MAIN extension for Chrome & IE.

Security Software: Avast! 5 free, Windows Defender, Microsoft Malware removal tool
Firewall: Windows Firewall.
Webbrowser: Internet Explorer 8

All of these are well and good for the individual’s own comfort and each to their own.

I have been informed that you cannot run two antivirus programs nor malware programs. I run Avast, Microsoft’s Security Client, Spybot Search & Destroy/w TTimer, and SUPER Antispyware Free Edition. OH, also Microsoft’s Firewall on Win7 64bit. As long as I do not screw-up and remove software that is really needed even though I do not use it, all works just fine and has been for over a year and a half. I feel very comfortable with this setup.

I have Speccy but don’t consider it essential in any way. All it does is give information on what’s in the system. It can’t fix anything.

It is essential for me since i need to check CPU/GPU/HDD Temps sometimes,
specialy on Laptops where Bios is locked and you cant even check from there lol.
Once i notice a bit rise temp depending on Ambient temp too ofc
its when i know i need to clean using the vacuum lol
