what Difference about expiration

hello

when I do about avast and see Registration Key I have there 2 expirations

1)Updates Expiration
2)expiration

what is Difference?

Are you using free version (Home Edition) ? If yes, i suggest you to update the program to latest version.
This section has been streamlined to only one expiration date when Home Edition is registered so users aren’t as confused.
Older versions of avast! had 2 expriation dates.

How to update your avast!:

Right click on avast! icon next to the windows clock, click Updating and then Program Update. Wait for avast! to download and apply updates and will asky ou to restart your system. Do so and on next system startup you will have new version of avast! with only one expiration date.

If your avast! is still not registered, do so by following this link:
http://www.avast.com/eng/home-registration.php

I have avast pro version 4.8.1335

I have only Updates Expiration : 02:00:00 2012 May 01 Tuesday

its ok? ???

seems to be okay… (if you recently bought a three year license)

Funny, I’d never noticed that change before – guess it was so minor that it didn’t warrant any comment from either Alwil or us users. But sure enough, the “never” for program expiration got dropped from the home version’s “About” sometime while I wasn’t looking. 8)

Good point… this has changed and I only noticed now… It used to be “never” for the program use and the updates are time limited… Maybe Alwil team could say something.

Sort-of-but-not-really off the original topic here …

Hmmm, think I found another change too, or else a glitch or ? Since it’s only once a year, I can’t for the life of me remember how it worked last year.

This morning I got that red popup “due to expire” warning box (timing’s about right, something like a month left) with a “click here to remedy situation” link. Clicking that opened a much larger window which appeared to contain nothing but info and advertising for the Pro version – and which could not be closed.

I finally gave up, rebooted, and went to re-register (email’s not in yet, and I did see that other thread about reg-key length problems which implied that Alwil still needs to fix something and it might take a day or two longer than in the past).

After a couple of minutes the red popup appeared again. This time I ignored it, as best I could, and FINALLY it retracted after something like 15 minutes, much longer than I can remember in past years.

Is this (particularly that ad window if you click on the red box) another change? Or have I possibly picked up some kind of bug that’s mimicking avast? There’s been no other warnings from avast, and MBAM and SAS scans a couple of days ago were clean.

You’re clean. Maybe the key generators have some ‘problems’ when you use the same email that received a non-good key.
