I used it for 3 months or so, didn’t give me any problems, just sort of sat there, never blocked anything, no alerts. Not because it wasn’t working but because it didn’t have to. So I have no idea how effective it is but from everything I’ve read it does its job quite effectively.
I believe the addition of this kind of Security Software to a “layered” security profile is worth while.
While I have not had personal experience with this particular program, I have been using a similar program for years.
I’ve heard positive things about this program from some of my friends. So if i understand how it works correctly, Zemana encrypts your keystrokes so that they are “unreadable” to any outside program(keyloggers). The paid version appears to also offer protection against financial malware. I don’t think i like the idea of it intercepting every single keystroke, what happens then when you are gaming and pressing keys like crazy ? See where i am going here ?
P.S: OK now i am curious, will install and report back.
Ok here is a short test/review from a non-expert user. ;D
Program install: The install was fast with no bundled software which is positive. On my setup the program takes up about 15MB of RAM which is quite decent i would say(takes up about the same amount of disk space). Also no restart was needed.
Usage: The usage is very simple, install and forget principle. There is a small icon in the sys. tray informing you if it is working or not. I had some issues with IE10 running in EPM mode(Win8 x64), Zemana did not work. After i disabled EPM in IE10, it started working. I also played Left 4 Dead 2(first person shooter) for a few minutes to see if there were any slowdowns and i am happy to report there weren’t any.
Effectivness: Really don’t know how to test it in real world application, don’t have any keyloggers to test with. There is a test program on their website which unfortunately i was not able to download(the download link wasn’t working for me) so in the end i settled for SpyShelter’s security test program. Running the keylogger test it was confirmed that Zemana indeed is working and encrypting my keystrokes. The program also got tested over at MRG Effitas and scored a perfect score on their Online Banking / Browser Security Assessment Project test. http://www.mrg-effitas.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/MRG-Effitas-Online-Banking-Browser-Security-Assessment-Project-Q2-20132.pdf (yeah there was another program tested that scored high marks on this test )
Bottom line: The program does appear to be doing what it is advertising, appears to be stable and it doesn’t have any nasty surprises with it(bundled software). It also does not display any banner ads or anything like that, at least i haven’t seen any yet. I don’t like that it doesn’t work with IE10’s EPM(to be fair almost nothing does) and i feel there should be more info as to what is going on in the background displayed in the main GUI(log file would be really nice). Since i am now curious as to how the competition looks/compares, i will look into KeyScrambler next. But all in all this appears to be a quite decent program.
Not sure what you mean Bob, no mention of avast! in the article ??
In this article we’ll be putting 3 anti keylogging programs named Zemana AntiLogger, SpyShelter Premium and DataGuard AntiKeylogger to the test with real keylogging tools that are popular and widely being used to determine the effectiveness of each program.
The link in the article:
A good antivirus can also recognize some of the known and unknown keyloggers through virus definition or heuristic analysis. Finally, a dedicated anti keylogging tool that constantly monitors the behavior of running applications and notifies you if it detects any potential keylogging activity.
