What does !avast scan for?

Hi ya’ll Merry Christmass.

Ok, I know !avast scans for and removes virus but what else? Does it scan for and remove other Malware like; Trojans, spyware, ect ect ect & ect.

If an item isn’t covered by !avast (it should be) what FREE program do you recommend?

Avast does scan and protect from all forms of malware (trojans, worms, spyware, rootkits, etc…). IMO you are in good hands with avast and a little common sense. :wink:

No it is NOT spam! There is no difference between me mentioning MagicJack in my signature or you mentioning another program such as “avast! Pro
with Browser Defender, IE8, hpHosts, MVPS HOSTS files, MBAM Full, SpeedFan or WinPatrol PLUS” in your signature.

So in other words keep your :-X about stuff that you are not educated about. :o

Aren’t Trojans, spyware, ect ect ect & ect. under the category of viruses?

By the way, avast has:

antispyware
antivirus
antirootkit
antimalware
antispam
webshield
network shield
P2P shield
Firewall (soon on avast 5)
IM Shield
Behavior shield (soon on avast 5)
etc etc

so I’m wondering why it wont scan for otehr forms of malware.

Personally I think it’s sailing pretty close to the wind as regards being a bit “spammy”, what with the word “BEST” being used in the context of a commercial application that has only peripheral (if any) association with a computer security forum, but I wouldn’t go arguing it more than this.
