What does it mean when you run full virus scan and at the end of it it shows like 6 things and says that avast could not scan those areas??? ???

I did 2 scans before that and caught 2 viruses before that. The next day when I ran the next scan (yesterday), that is what it said. It wouldn’t let me take any action either. I just had to cancel it. My virus scans take like 3 hours to do when I do a full system scan.

I also wanted to add that I have avast free home edition. I have registered.

It just shows like 6 things and says it cant scan those areas. Wont let me take any action?

Shedule a boot time scan on all drives within Avast 5 and reboot and scan again and move any items to chest when prompted. Boot time scan is more thorough and scans before operating system starts. You may have a trojan horse or virus on the drive!

There are some files, that can’t be scanned by avast, as they are in use at time of scanning.
That usually is no problem, but if you want to be sure you can make a boot time scan. (32bit only)
Or post a screenshot of the files here, so helpers can advice you.
asyn

Some files are permanently locked by the system or they are in password-protected archives. These files cannot be scanned. It is normal and you don´t have to be worried about that.

Boot time scan does not give better detection but better removal

Avast Antivirus offers a “boot time” virus scan of your PC. This allows the antivirus engine to scan all of the files on your hard drive before any other programs load - useful in cases where you have an infection which cannot be cleaned because the “file is in use”
