What does Rescue Disk Do (Contain) ?

I know what a rescue disk is…many out there for O/S, A/V, etc…but was curious what the Avast 2014 disk contains ?
If there is details or some tutorial link I apologize.

Of course a little scary at the end of the article on how to repair your O/S if it does not start after scan/repair.
In other words Avast can remove needed O/S files.
Guess it is better to know what to do in that event but does cause one to pause. :-\

Avast! will not make operating system unbootable unless there’s serious infection. It’s safe to use, just need to be careful with it (as any other rescue disks).
