What does the company admin see of my internet behaviour?

I use my personal laptop for business purposes, and had to install Avast Business Security licensed to the company I work for.

What does the manager see? Does he get a notification when an infection has been found? Does he see which sites I visit?

It all depends on how he has setup things.
Ask the admin, as he is the only one that can tell you.

That’s kind of an awkward question to ask.

What setup possibilities are there? And where is this documented?

Here is a start (300 pages for you ro read) > https://www.avast.com/download-documentation

And there is ofcourse

  • the admin guide for the OS that is used (several 1000’s of pages)
  • the manuals/guides for the software that is used
  • the hardware guides for the hardware that is used
  • the company policies
  • etc.

Fact remains that only the admin/IT department can answer you.

Views of an avast user not Avast:
If you are using your personal laptop for business purposes, I would have thought you have a right to ask know what they can see/monitor.

You have personal, private data on your laptop, that you may wish to remain private, otherwise shouldn’t they provide the equipment.

But as Eddy said what the company actually monitors you would have to ask them.

Avast Business security does not directly log the traffic. It can block certain websites but is not a true web filter.

However as David and Eddy have eluded to, you are giving up certain things using your personal device for business. For example, while avast doesn’t log the traffic, your Admin may have an appliance at the gateway logging the web traffic such as a web filter or advanced firewall (SonicWall, Barracuda, or similar)
