What else to run with Avast

Hi, I am running the paid IS suite and I also have Malwarebytes(free edition). Is it worth updrading to the paid version and if so, is there any conflict having real time scanning with Malwarebytes.

Is there anything else I should run as well ?

Thanks in advance for any responses

Andy

The realtime protection of Malwarebytes is well worth the money for a lifetime license.

There should be no issues running the two together but to be on the safe side you should exclude each from one another, exclusions can be found on the MBAM forums http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?act=findpost&pid=417798

Hi, just purchased and configured Malwarebytes with Avast and vica versa but not sure if i need to add the star and dot which their instructions from the link in the previous post display as

•Type or copy/paste the following address:

*.mbamupdates.com

•Click on OK

Can anyone confirm if I leave off the prefix star and dot please highlighted red

Andy

You need to add the *. as well to complete the exclusion

Done

Thanks for your help

Anything else you think I would need - Winpatrol or something ?

Winpatrol would also be a good addition to your security setup, it monitor’s everything thats going on with your system and lets you know of any changes.

Thank you Craigb, does it run ok with Avast IS ?

I dont use AIS but i believe they work fine together, never heard any complaints anyway  no exclusions should be neccesary either.

I have WinPatrol PLUS on my systems and it works great:

I have Avast and errrr Avast ;D

dont forget all those magic tools in your back pocket. ;D

Are Winpatrol and Secunia PSI very much the same thing but without startup options in PSI ?

Never had to use them yet … Apart from uninstalling the AVG bar that I stupidly allowed to install

I use just Avast and the free version of Malwarebytes. I run a MBAM scan every so often but it never finds anything. I use nothing else.

Winpatrol monitors system behaviour like HIPS and Secunia monitors the system for out of date software, iv always found secunia a waste of time since most programs now have there own update checking capabilities, plus the occasional browse through the updates section or sites like File Hippo will also alert you to the latest updates.

You mean magician tools?

Winpatrol monitors and report system and other changes on your computer. You can than check the reported changes
through a Google or other search to verify their reliability.
The pro version has a pretty good database, the free version puts the burden on you.
