What extra online scanner do you use?

Hi malware fighter,

I know that people use non-resident on-line scanners once in a while, nothing wrong with that, whenever they are compatible (panda is not with avast resident scanning).
What of the following do you use? And why is that?
Polonus is a fan of Bitdefender, don’t know why.

Here is the list:

SKANERY ANTYWIRUSOWE ON-LINE
ON-LINE ANTI-VIRUS SCANNERS (links made non-clickable)

MKS = [http://skaner.mks.com.pl/]

RAV = [http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/indexie.php]

Symantec = [http://security.symantec.com/]

Panda = [http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm]

McAfee = [http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp?cid=9914]

Trend micro = [http://pl.trendmicro-europe.com/consumer/products/housecall_pre.php]

Bitdefender = [http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php]

Etrust = [http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx]

Kaspersky = [http://www.kaspersky.pl/services.html?s=online_vir_chk]

Dr.Web = [http://www.drweb32.pl/skaner.php]

Interesting to hear about your extra on-line scanner of choice.

polonus

Hi polonos,

Trend and Dr. Web seem to give reliably good results so I usually turn to them when needed.

I don’t use Symantec or McAfee because, other than Site Advisor, I have an aversion to any of their products.

I have BitDefender Free installed so their online scan would be a duplication of effort.

Not being familiar with MKS, RAV, and Etrust I don’t use them, and just never got around to trying Kaspersky.

Polonus you can remove the link to RAV online scanner… They were bought by MS remember?

This is what you get when you go to the link you posted:

Due to the acquisition of RAV’s IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) by Microsoft Corp. in 2003, GeCAD Software SRL is currently scaling down and discontinuing its anti-virus related business.

Please be informed that RAV AntiVirus online and direct sales ceased September 3rd, 2003.

Also almost all your links lead to pages in Polish language …
