What happens when my avast! Free's license expires

As I’ve just found out! Mine was due to expire soon but there was no button to re-register it. Reading this thread, I’ve just had another look and it expires in 360 days, so it automatically updated 5 days ago. Phew!

Why am I getting a nag screen every time I turn on my PC about renewing my license.

According to the message in the subscription tab / box my subscription is valid until 15/04/2018 and I still have (170 days remaining).

If I have 170 days remaining, why the nag screen every time I boot up?

To top this off I must agree with the person asking about the capture letters, very hard to see them all and on my PC even with the sound up full blast, I cannot hear anything!

Iv’e just had to click six times to actually see the image, and unlike other websites, the letters didn’t change from what I can make out.

Nag screen ends after your third post. (Keeps out the spammers)
Is it possible you have more than one subscription ???

I checked my subscription for my registration for Avast! Free Antivirus on my computer because my expiration date is going to expire on March 8th, 2018. I still have 125 days left before it expires. After it expires, do I need to re-activate Avast! Free Antivirus before starting a new year? Last year, I re-activated Avast! Free Antivirus on May 2016 from June 2015 for a different expiration date. Very simple, it is.

If you’re using the latest version of Avast, registration for the free version is no longer required.

rather advised in the notes of 17.1.2286 previous version

Mine was a link to the download of the latest version. I didn’t think an explanation was needed.

I still have 103 days left until my subscription for Avast! Free Antivirus expires on March 8th, 2018. After it expires, I can activate this software again to get a new expiration date. Very simple, it is. I’m still not worried about it again. =)

It should update the registration again.

Currently this is a bit of a mess, as can be seen from other posts, the problem being avast is saying one thing and the program another. It is saying your registration is about to expire, but the program says another thing, when it does expire it should renew.

Hopefully by the time your registration is due, this mess/confusion should be resolved. I certainly wouldn’t be worrying about it with over 100 days to go.

Today, I still have 99 days left until my subscription for Avast! Free Antivirus expires on March 8th, 2018. I hope all my programs and files wouldn’t get infected on my computer ever again. Hope this helps me. It will automatically update my subscription after it expires.

Nothing has changed since your last post, the program should continue protecting your system.

I still have 89 days left until my subscription for Avast! Free Antivirus expires on March 8th, 2018. What if I need to wait some more time every day before my antivirus software will automatically change my expiration date after it expires?

As is being seen in the forums this is a very haphazard issue, for a program that supposedly no longer requires registration, it sure looks like it does.

Hoverer, this is a bridge you don’t have to cross at any time soon. You would get notifications before that time comes, exactly when I don’t know as I have never got a notification. As I have said even if you do get them and the expiry date does come, avast free will still continue its protection and will eventually update the registration.

Well, it’s about time when Christmas and 2018 are coming soon from now on. I have still 75 days left until my subscription for Avast! Free Antivirus expires on March 7th, 2018. I wonder if newer updated version of Avast! Free Antivirus can update the subscription for a new expiration date for me after it expires. No worries at all. Thanks for your continued support.

On my computer, I keep checking my Subscription tab for Avast! Free Antivirus every day to make sure how many days left until my subscription expires on March 7th, 2018. It is true that updated versions of Avast! Free Antivirus can update my expiration date for my subscription for me after it expires in one year. That’s why it is very useful to activate the antivirus software after expiration for my subscription. I sure hope that my files and programs won’t get infected on my computer ever again.

Your question has been answered many times, now you sit back and wait, you don’t have to check every few days and post again.

At the earliest you would see anything would be around 28 days before and even than as has been answered it will eventually renew/allow activation button.

Well, I still have 49 days left until my registration for Avast! Free Antivirus expires on March 8th on my computer this year. It seems to me that I did a great job on scanning my computer for viruses every day. From the past few years, I will re-activate my anitvirus software after it expires, like I did from May 2016. Hope this helps.

But it still doesn’t need constant reference in the forums, that isn’t going to change how it will renew.

One of my systems has about 24 days left, I have no need to cross that bridge for at least 25 days, when I will see exactly what happens with this relatively new policy.

My avast free license renewals countdown got to 12 days (11 full days remaining), at which point I choose the Avast Free Antivirus option to renew avast free.

Image 1: Notice to renew - select avast free antivirus.
Image 2: Shows you have activated avast free - do not select 'Continue With Upgrade - close that window using the ‘X’ top right of the window.
Image 3: Shows that my subscription has been renewed, now at 376 days, remaining plus 1 year.

Thanks for putting the steps for me. I can’t wait to renew my subscription for Avast! Free Antivirus on the computer soon this year.
