Hello
I have just downloaded AVAST anti-virus v4.8. onto a new 32 bit computer running Windows Vista (Home Premium). As you will see I am a “newbie,” or as Pooh Bear once said “I am a bear of very little brain.” Could some kind person out there tell me where I can find information about what AVAST comprises and what I can have it do for me?

The information a the site you have recommended is very useful. Does anyone know, I wonder, if there is a “users guide” anywhere that will show me how to use the Avast 4 Home edition - a PDF document perhaps?

The main users guide is the avast help file.
Windows Start, All Programs, avast! Antivirus, Help or C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ENGLISH\HELP\help.chm. Or from the menu in the Simple User Interface (on-demand scanner).
You can also browse the forums, especially the sticky topics at the top of each of the forums. They provide a wealth of information to help you get the best from avast.
