What I'd Like to see in Avast 5

I’m not sure is this is the place to put this, but it just seemed right. There is only one thing right now I’d like to see in AVAST! 5. That is to take out the thing that pops up and stops the scan when a virus is found. i have a big hard drive and it takes many hours to scan, and i hate having to babysit my computer when I’m scanning. Even if there was a way to turn it off I’d be happy. Out side of that AVAST! is by far the best anti-virus program I’ve used and has saved me and my family a chunk of money. Keep up the good work.

I agree with you. There should be a way like DrWeb CureIt antivirus, to first scan the computer, then cure it!!!

“That is to take out the thing that pops up and stops the scan when a virus is found.” - that’s it! hope they consider this remark!

No, you don’t have to. Just the first time (as a Home version limitation).
In Home version you can check the option “Don’t show this window again” as soon as the first virus warning appears, and click on “No action” button. This way, nothing will be done and you will be presented the results at the end (and you can perform actions from there).

I never tried this way, will it be DrWebCureIt way, with the actions on the results still possible from the gui or open software. Point is not to baby sit the computer and have it easy at the end of the scan. Thanks! :o

You’re welcome. avast is one of the most configurable antivirus round for sure…

When will avast 5 release?

I hope that there is also a possibility to turn off VRDB and VRDB symbol, because i don’t like that

… and maybe a Rootkit-Provider :o

its never known when exactly a product will be released. It has been said sometime this year for Avast 5. However there can be delays that push the date back (as there can be in any type of software development)

Remember Avast runs on every major OS and their development staff is spread between the different versions.

Why wait for version 5 for that ? It is available since like forever. You just have to right-click the avast! blue ball icon in system tray, and go from there. Options are quite visible and self-explanatory. Both, VRDB, and icon can be easily disabled.

Thank you  Maybe there should be a good overview/layout in Avast 5 (for example like new Nod32 3.0). It would be easier to use, instead of searching options in context menue :-\

NOD32 v3.x GUI is bad. Some found NOD32 v2.x GUI confusing, check this one. It looks all nice and cute but when you open the settings all hell breaks loose. ALWIL, don’t even think going that way! It was the same with BitDefender 2008. Huge icons, pretty GUI but when you open the settings, oh dear…

Ok, you’re right :-X
