What is Avast downloading?

after uninstalling a few programs, disabling some browser stuff using Avast’s Browser cleanup, updating Avast definitions and program yesterday, i startup today and something is using 100% of my internet connection.

in Resource manager it’s listing 2 AvastSvc.exe which are downloading and have downloaded 500mb+ so far

under Address it says for each one:

Host227-rangeC-akamai-aanp
host143-rangeB-google-ggc

Definition Version: 130908-1

Program Version
8.0.1497

running on windows Vista ultimate 64bit

AvastSvc.exe is still downloading using 100% of my internet download speed, 3.5GB and it’s to multiple connections/addresses.

is this normal?

in what folder do these download end up?
and what is in there?

have you tried avast repair to see if that changes anything?

controlpanel > ad/remove programs > avast > uninstall > repair option … wait a minute and reboot

any change?
