Isn’t this the IE 11 Protected Mode at work where it is blocking the Avast Online Security add-on ?

You either have to switch of the IE Protected Mode or uninstall the Avast Online Security (Browser Security) module in avast.

Sorry I don’t use/have IE11 so I can’t say what it brings to the party. But many say AOS has more benefits, so I can’t suggest an option for you.
