After installing Windows 1903 build …267, AvastWscReporter service was set to Manual and not running. After updating Windows to build …356, I now see that the service is set to Automatic and running. I tried to set it back to Manual but was denied access. I disabled Avast self-defense and was still denied the ability to reset the service to Manual.
On doing a winver check on my win10 system the version reported is 1903 (OS Build 18362.387). I don’t know if that would make a difference.
This is after doing the latest Cumulative Update and a non-compulsory/mandatory KB, so I can only assume that this is the latest version.
That said AvastWscReporter is set to Automatic and running on my system, as I’m not seeing any adverse effects (CPU?RAM usage) I will leave it for now.
This also seems tied up with the AvastAntivirus remediation exe wsc_proxy.exe.
