I notice once in a while that an Avast symbol of a rolling I in a blue circle appears for a moment and disappears. I believe it has to due with the automatic updating, but am not sure. I find it in the taskbar (not sure if that is the right name, but the area where the volume and clock symbols are). It might be Advanced SystemCare Pro, because both programs have blue symbols. Any clarification is greatly appreciated?
What you are seeing is the icon for the VRDB - Virus Recovery Data base. If it is spinning, then it is generating the VRDB.
If you do not want to see this icon, you can merge it with the “a” ball by right clicking the “i” ball and clicking “Merge with the main avast! icon” where VRDB items will appear on the “a” ball right click menu.
EDIT to correct a typo.
Even when the two are merged the image the poster has described is seen when the VRDB database is in the process of being updated every 21 days.
Yes, you are right, Alan. I forgot to inclued that information. Thanks!
Something Ive never been sure of…is the VRDB generated automatically every 21days or does it have to be done manually?
Happy New Year to you all.
You have to have first selected the method you want it to run automatically under, screensaver or when the system is idle. If you don’t do a Generate Now (manual generation) then I don’t know if avast would wait 21 days before it does the first generation.
