@ Avast332
Personally I don’t necessarily think this is a problem, assuming that you have installed visicom_antiphishing or some other anti-phishing tool ?

This looks like avast detecting unencrypted signature/phishing sites database updates.

Seems so, pondus:

Visicom uses Panda malware definitions which presumably still are not encrypted.

I just let visicom know five minutes ago that there’s a problem: they should encrypt their definitions.

Ouch, sorry DavidR.

Yes, I though you were responding to my post Reply #12 above and not the one by Pondus Reply #11 ;D

ok guys i have returned and my pc avast scanner found no other infected files. I shut off pc a lil now back on so far I haven’t seen the message so maybe all is good atm? Not sure but I will post back if that message comes up again. thx again guys for all the help and sorry if I may seem dumb with this type of stuff Im not really good with understanding about this stuff etc. I just use my pc to play game use youtube/facebook etc

anyways ill be back if I got any other issues ty again 4 help

I suspect that the next time this Visicom anti-phishing tool tries to update again, that avast will either alert on the site as it tries to download the signatures or when the unencrypted signatures are on the system.

Looking into the same issue here on a user’s computer and the main problem I see with this is that this program was installed UNKNOWINGLY along with a toolbar in internet explorer. The user doesn’t even have permission to install things, yet things like this slip through the cracks and it most likely installed without the user even knowing or they were tricked into thinking they needed it.

These may or may not be safe, but if I were you I would uninstall the following in Add/Remove programs or Programs and Features in Control Panel:

Anti-Phishing Domain Advisor
Spam Free Search Bar

Hi brandon0413,

Thank you, for confirming for what I supposed was at the root of the problem.
On the other hand these postings are also very valuable feed-back for you.
