Hi
All my desktop shortcut arrows lost and I didnot find its registery key as named IsShortCut!
It seems that some thing fishy is happening here.
I have AVAST AV!.
Welcome to the forums, Ames.
Please download HijackThis from the link below. Do not download HJT to the desktop but instead download it into it’s own folder on the hard drive.
Run the program but do not make any fixes and then post the log results using the “copy & paste” method. It will probably take more than one post to be able to get the complete log posted.
OR, you can post it as an attachment to your post by clicking on “Additional Options…” below left of the posting box. Someone will review your log and then offer help.

HI dear friend This is my log file.
Your Java is out of date.
I suggest you uninstall the old version with JavaRa and install the latest version here (exclude MSN Toolbar at installation).
Other than the java mentioned by Jtaylor, the only other item that could be questionable is this one …
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{F91011AB-3A08-48CD-ABF3-273C40EF22A2}: NameServer = 217.219.225.75
Do you recognize the address number above? If so, it could be ok.
By the way, Ames, do your desktop shortcuts still work even though the arrows are missing?
Actually, some years ago, I removed those arrows from my shortcuts as I do not like them, but, at the moment, I can not remember how I did it so that I could give the the way add the arrows.
Since your HJT log did not show much amiss, I will search around and see if i can find the solution to add the arrows to your icons.
Right click on shortcut > Properties > Change icon
Since this IP address belongs to “Padid pardaz sama Company ,Internet Service Provider” supposedly of “shooshtar ,Iran” thought this IP is filtered in the Whois search I did, I wouldn’t think it is Ames’s ISP.
The CLSID for the entry doesn’t bring up any hits either, so I too would say it is suspect.
@ Ames:
You could try a fix of this entry (only this entry) and see if you can still connect to the internet.
If so great, if not (close all browser windows) open HJT and click the Config button bottom right. Now click the Backups button, select the last backup, the one with this O17 entry ans select Restore.
For the icon arrows, check this …
1 - Right click the Desktop / Properties / Appearance tab and click Advanced button.
2 - Select Item.
3 - Scroll down to Icon and click.
4 - The default size is 32. If less than 32, the arrow might not show depending on how much less than.
- This may or may not help but worth a try.
sorry about this, i know it is not the right place, but how do i post a new topic??
thx, sorry
I like Tweak UI from Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx
This PowerToy gives you access to system settings that are not exposed in the Windows XP default user interface, including mouse settings, Explorer settings, taskbar settings, and more.
Thanks everyone.
yeah I found that I lost the arrows while I had install a tweak program.
THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION!
You are welcome and glad to know you have found a solution.
