what is "trasparent" web protection?

Hi, i tried to install Zone Alarm and an avast message told me that the “trasparent web protetion” should be on for the compatibility whith zone alarm.
Then avast told me to set proxy server as localhost port 12080.
Someone could explain to me what does that mean?

Then i uninstalled zone alarm and i tried kerio firewall… should i turn off the “trasparent web protection” and restore default connection settings in my browser?

Thanks… sorry for bad english…

Yes, Kerio won’t have trouble with avast.
Oh, if you were using the free version of ZoneAlarm, it won’t have trouble too.
WebShield works like a local proxy server: it redirects the HTTP (Internet) traffic to port 12080 and scans it before the files are saved (cached) into your hard disk.

To change avast! Web Shield compatibility now, use a text editor and edit the C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\avast4.ini file.
Locate the line containing ZoneAlarmCompatibility= and delete that line. Save the edited avast4.ini file.
