What is your normal RAM usage for the AvastService process?

Hi,

I am not very sure whether my RAM usage for the AvastService process did not go up after the latest update.
I hadn’t really noticed the normal usage before.

My AvastService doesn’t go under 780MB during normal operation. The CPU process is ok.

Is this normal for most of you? I am running all core shields and anti tracker and also the breach guard.

I’ve seen the reports from people complaining of jumping RAM usage, so I wonder if I am impacted.

Thanks!

It also takes about 1 minute to load the Avast GUI - CPU going to 80% and also same with using Chrome, especially when opening pages for the first time.

with the GUI now launched I have 1GB of RAM used…

I tried repairing a few times, no change.

  1. Download Avast Premium Security: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premium_security_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Am I going to lose the passwords saved in Avast Passwords? Should I back them up?

Regarding APW, see: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=236960.0

Hi,

Reinstall helped…in fact now AvastService uses 0.2% CPU and 18Mb RAM under normal conditions.

I must have had an issue with it for some time then and i hadn’t realised.

Thanks

You’re welcome.
