Is it free-ware or ad-ware?
if is free-ware then how to disable Avast Professional Edition advertisement?
if is ad-ware then why Avast lie that is free-ware?
It’s freeware (requires manual registration on version 4; automated on version 5).
The Pro banner is inside of the program. It’s not an add. It does not annoy in anyway. No user interaction.
from wikipedia:
“Web banners function the same way as traditional advertisements are intended to function: notifying consumers of the product or service and presenting reasons why the consumer should choose the product in question, although web banners differ in that the results for advertisement campaigns may be monitored real-time and may be targeted to the viewer’s interests.”

Does Avast “notifying consumers of the product or service and presenting reasons why the consumer should choose the product”?
And another one or more:
Why Avast changed license of Avast without my accept? (this advertisement wasn’t visible when I first time was using avast
How to uninstall this advertisment?
This isn’t the same as a web banner in that it isn’t a rotating changing advert, unrelated to what you are browsing. But simple promotion of the Pro product, I don’t particularly like it but it isn’t a aggressive as many nag screens of some supposed freeware products.
It is an integral part of avast and can be changed as required by Alwil.
You can’t install it as has been said it is integral to the program. If you so object you can always uninstall the program if you aren’t prepared to see what isn’t a big deal for the benefits of the free product.
Not sure if it could be considered as promotion. A user probably would not check the message if changing protection level not necessary. However, when adjusting configuration to improve security, the software would remind that there is another version available ~
The ads isnt annoying its less annoying than the Avira Notify… Its very great the ads and i dont care of it. But i some tought why there an ads when you right click on the icon and say if you want to go/information with/of the pro version…
The license is the same, and the software work as before, so I don’t understand your concern?
Sorry, it can’t be consider ad as it is not intrusive at all. It’s not there unless the user opens the interface.
If you want it out, maybe change the antivirus will be for you. Try Avira popups… and you’ll be here five minutes later.
