I have read the privacy related threads, it’s a mess and stuff is everywhere, so I thought I would ask.
I am an IT tech, and I am often asked how one can increase their privacy, as I usually recommend Avast! I would like to know how, and if all information can be prevented from being sent to the cloud. I include IP, Email, Account details, URL’s/Domains in this information. Ideally, I want NOTHING send to the cloud while still enabling the highest level of protection achievable.
So, what can I disable, to block data transfer TO the cloud. If this is not possible, can I please have the server addresses so that I may manually form an exclude list?
Essentially, I want to disable the minimum amount of features while retaining the maximum amount of protection, while ensuring no data is sent to the cloud.
avast GUI>settings>community>untick the proper box.
Please read the privacy statement on the same screen.
You will find your personal data is safe and secure.
Data may be safe today, but not tomorrow. Businesses change hands, EULA’s change, laws change. Data is worth money. Free users of Avast! are not. Logic hereby states that our information WILL be sold at one point or another. Either way, this is not being debated.
I want to know how to STOP my data being sent, not whether it is safe or not.
I want to know, HONESTLY, from someone, how I can stop my data being transmitted. None of it. No ip’s, no domains, nothing.
As I can see from the following, some here are lying.
Registration of Avast Free AV: name, email address
Product itself: your IP address, your Avast ID.
WebRep is a cloud-only feature. As such, it has no other way than to send this information to our servers - to get a rating info about a domain, you obviously have to send the domain name to the server.
The only way I know of is to stop using the web. Since the various websites use cookies your IP address is never completely invisible.
You could lessen this by not allowing third party cookies. However when you register on any forum you must disclose your email and your
internet service provider keeps track of your web usage via your IP address.
Instead of jumping to conclusions, why do you not read what I have posted, and answer the damn question!?!
Seriously, you lot are useless.
I am queried regularly by clients who state, they do not want their information being leaked. Many regularly access classified information on company intranets or travel overseas into nations which monitor the internet or have strict controls.
So instead of being a bunch of useless morons, can you either answer the question, or shut the hell up. Seriously. If I wanted your commentary I would have asked for it.
My data, is my data. It is not for sale, dissemination or external use. I asked a simple question.
Sounds like “SweetieBelle” isn’t so sweet ???
No one is jumping to conclusions but apparently you expect miracles.
There is no privacy on the internet - ask ex Congressman Wiener.
