Yeah, so this happened with latest version of Opera. Care to explain why I’ve been “redirected” too many times on a direct forum address?
It is not just this webboard.
I’ve seen the same with some other websites also.
Opera : 40.0.2308.62
Windows 10 (64 bit).
They did release a update today (version 40.0.2308.81)
But I don’t see anything about it in their changelog or version history on their website.
The problem of too many re-directions is not exclusively an Opera problem, also seen for Google Chrome.
Best to try and use CCleaner on it, or clear both cache and cookies.
I met problems once with this website: http://telegraaf.nl/ a big Dutch newspaper website,
but there it could have been a pay-wall issue (logged-out).

Noted VPN was connecting/disconnecting in Opera v. .62. Eddy is correct in that there is a newer version .81 but problems logging on here with Opera seemed to center on VPN connection issues, at least in version .62 anyway.
I doubt it was a VPN issue as I don’t use one and experienced the same.
There was another bug in .62 as well.
When there was a url in the address bar and you selected it (or part of it), the selected part would become invisible.
And in the .62 version as well as in the new .81 version I am missing the “paste and search oprtion” when right clicking the search bar.
It is strangely enough present in the address bar though.
When VPN is set to load, it is orange then blue if connection is successful and permanent.
What is happening here is orange>blue>back to orange VPN and only then is an Opera connection to avast forum successful.
Again, Opera is set to have VPN run full-time, but is not doing so here.
Seems to be working now. I’ve poked Opera guys via Twitter. They asked me to fill a report, but apparently they’ve checked it anyway.
Must be something with the VPN as I don’t have that problem.
