Hi,
I just ran a boot scan and the win32 trojan-gen 20ZIGX35 virus was detected in the following location:
\users\appdata\local\microsoft\windows\temporary internet files\content.IE5\20ZIGX35\ccblp[1].htm
I tried to move to chest but got the following error message:
Error 0xc0000034 {Object Name not found.}
I could delete, but it’s questioning me whether I want to do that because the file is in a windows folder. Before I do anything further with it, I was hoping someone could advise me of the best approach.
I used CCleaner first to clear my temp files and then re-scanned the c drive with avast. It found and quarantined four other infected files but oddly did not find the trojan virus that was detected during the boot scan.
So I ran MalwareBytes Antimalware, and it detected and quarantined two trojan files (agent and downloader).
All-in-all, it was a team effort. Do you think that I should have my bases covered using all three of these products? Not sure if I should scan the whole drive again with something else to be sure.
Im new here myself, but have seen these programs recommended often, I personally use Malwarebytes and Superantispyware on demand scans along with Avast and they play fine together. I also have the impession CCcleaner works great with them as well. But ive yet to use it.
A layered defense is the best offense.~grin~ as most people here say…
and yes, to answer your question, I think your bases are all covered.
Decided to run SuperAntiSpyware too as a precaution, and good thing I did because it’s found another trojan! Layered defense, indeed. Hopefully these four will have caught them all.
