Hi Miha and SasH,
I knew you would do that. You “twardiel”-g33ks. You are good sports,

P.S. twardiel = polish slang for hard disk

Well for a time it was looking good and then back to spinning my wheels.
My is Page created in 0.08 seconds with 21 queries.
No problems ;D

The page creation is a bit of a red herring as that really is only the start of the process, effectively a wrapper for what the content of the page will be, then that content has to be loaded.
Currently things seem OK but when I see slow down in the forums I test other forums that I know are in the USA on the West coast like the powweb.com forum and I don’t see the same problem so it is most certainly limited to the avast forum.

As I explained in one of my previous posts - only this says that “server” is slow. If this is in seconds, something is wrong with this server. Everything else is caused by (most probably) network transport and that’s beyond my control.

Hi kubecj,
In general there is nothing wrong here, the slow server is just occasionally. Be glad that people like to come back here, it is a sign the site is worth visiting and has a function in the lives of so many.

I do appreciate the network transport issue but when it is only the avast forum that is slow over the same network transport I’m confused.
Edit: As you say when it is in seconds and not fractions of a second then something is wrong with the server, and I have just got another one measured in seconds though not the 143 seconds that I say earlier.

At the time of my original post, the forum had been unavailable for over 3 hours.
That is never normal nor can it be the result of updates or any other activity.
Precisely, it does not occur with other sites…
Fully agree.

Well it seems the gremlins are still up and about with erratic page creation times I have twice beaten my previous record of 143 seconds with a 239 and 278 second page creation times I though all activity had stalled.
It really is infuriating when you think things are reasonably quick and you get a knee in the groin.

Yes, and that equals 0.080 which is still a bit slower than 0.067 and 0.068

@ DavidR: Sorry to hear about your troubles, this must be really frustrating for you, are you absolutely certain it isn’t some software or some setting causing this ? Have you tried with different browsers ? Strange, the forum has been working flawlessly for me these last few weeks, , maybe i was just lucky …

And 227.143 seconds which is considerably slower, that is what the page creation time is for this page right now.
Frustrating hardly covers it, page creation is a local server issue which is totally unrelated to your connection method or distance, so it should be the same for all, go figure >:(
Edit: some more I got whilst commenting in this topic.

Frankly, I don’t understand it, because most of the users have quick responses and server is not slow.
The only explanation may be in your numbers? You’ve got much more messages, replies to your messages, notifications, etc. Try to clean up your notifications, pms etc.?

I don’t understand it either because the page creation is or should be totally independent of any network or connection method.
But I see this sight frequently over the last 10 days lost of spinning wheels, see image.
Of those with a spinning wheel in the image there was one page creation of 164, 135 and 35 seconds.
So I’m totally baffled but it, I just know it is virtually unworkable.
DavidR, if it’s any consolation, about 6 min ago, it took at least 90 sec. to change pages. Right now I’m on a very high speed connection. (work)

I missed the second bit, Whilst I have a huge amount of replies to posts, 547 pages of notifications, etc. So why isn’t this happening to Tech who must surely have even more.
I’m not sure how the notifications works as they are disabled, but obviously in a selection of the new posts in a topic (when I click on the new button it would query the posts that I have replied in), but again this just confuses me even more. In theory that would be the same ‘all’ of the time and not in fits and starts as it currently is with some taking hundredths of a second and others taking hundreds of seconds.
Obviously with 547 pages of notification that is out of the question to manually clean-up them as the page only displays 15 entries at a time wit no way of selecting all only all on that page. I got tired of this after manually deleting 20 pages with only 527 more to go.
Is there any way that you as the Administrator can do a clean-up by date and kill all where the notification is older than three months ?
My PMs is very clear 9 in the inbox (reference PMs) and 9 in the outbox.

No additional tools on my side… so 527 * 2 clicks should do! ;D
