I finally switched from ATI to nVidia. I also got original “Company of Heroes” game (in its original package) bundled with my new video card.

Few minutes ago I tried installing this game, and this is what avast! popped out with as soon as I clicked INSTALL button.

Malware type: Joke/Hoax
???

Anyone has any idea what’s going on here?

I would check it at virustotal.

But in a Polish thread on this find, I found this: “Skoro z 32 skanerów tylko Avast wykrył w tym pliku wirusa, myślę że jest to fałszywy alarm.” And when we translate this in English we read: “According to 32 scanners (of Virustotal) only Avast detected a virus with this file, I think this is an F.P.”
Well you could do as DavidR said, but I think send the file to avast as a possible False Positive.

Since a search for “Company of Heroes” shoes nothing but safe sites and,
since you’ve got an original CD, I’d consider this a “false positive”

(Exclude it in your settings)

Unfortunately these things always seem to happen on weekends when most
people from Alwil aren’t here. :cry:

Here… I guess it’s safe… it looks like another false positive for avast!

BTW How’s the game like ? The new graphics card running it well i presume ?

Nvidia the best for games as you can tell in my signature Sasha-enjoy the new graphics card and get somes game for the children to play as well :wink:

It certainly looks that way, add to exclusions lists and send sample to virus @ avast dot com if you haven’t done so already.

Call of Duty 3 is for consoles only, no pc version … But yeah they’re great games, just finished COD4 single player, great game altough i missed the WWII theme abit.
