I’ve been a huge Avast booster for years and have turned many people onto their AV product. I use them on multiple platforms and use both paid and free versions.
I threw Avast Free onto a laptop the other day, and I have to say I’m shocked at how much it’s become upsell nagware. I know the fan boys and girls on here will instantly start flaming me, but I just can’t recommend a product that behaves this way. The last straw was SafePrice. I didn’t turn this on, and I thought I had infected myself with a toolbar (and I NEVER get infected). When your antivirus starts to mimic the behavior of malware, it’s definitely time to move on.
So I say goodbye to Avast as it goes down this questionable path that erodes my trust in the company and its products. If I wanted nagware and toolbars I could have just skipped installing an antivirus product.

That is just why we have a custom install.
Then use that.
