So whats this forums purpose? This sint your average security related forum, this is the forum of Avast Software the most used AV Vendor on this planet why talking about Competitors products? There has to be a reason behind that

I believe it states exactly what the purpose is in the sub heading āDiscussion about competitorās products (ESET, Kaspersky, Norton etcā¦)ā
Whether it be issues - ideas or simply keeping non Avast related discussions out of the normal forum topicsā¦this is now where to do it
Just sneaking a peek. It could use a 4K Ultra HD and a coffee maker.

Non-Avast security productsā¦

I know it.
It is about the baseball bats and guns people have ;D

Guys!
Perhaps this could be used to discuss features of competitors that have merit and could be included in Avast! Or some not so good things in competitors that we want avast to avoid.
Think positive!
Cheers,
Mac
this is to ensure you have place to lament about or praise the other security products w/o leaving this forum
Perhaps, over time, it will increase the visibility of this forum when someone uses Google to search for an Avast competitor.

Why canāt the Avast Program updater be as good as:
http://support.kaspersky.com/11827#block5
Avast has a very short list. When I run the Avast Program updater it only finds 2 programs. I downloaded Secunia PSI because I wanted to compare. Secunia finds 43 programs.

Considering only Avast Team members could create a new sub-forum, it would be nice to see who created it. In the past there has been an initial topic/post by the person creating the new sub-forum.
There are no Moderators assigned to this sub-forum either.

Hi DavidR,
You will see some more reorganising of the forums. Be in for some surprise.
Be glad the Avast Team finally lends a willing ear,
while it is not always obvious, they are very much aware of what is going on.
They havenāt always got the time and occasion for it,
but they made it clear to us that they certainly will consider all the feed-back.

Iām all for any improvements, but when they spring a new sub-forum on us you are bound to get questions like this Topic.
It would just be nice when they introduce (excuse the pun) something new that they actually introduce it with a brief topic about its purpose.
I like the idea of this forum (Discussion about competitors products).
Hopefully anyone interested in āOverall Securityā as many use a layered security profile, can offer input about their experiences and take information away as this forum grows in āTopicsā.

This subforum is created by MartinZ.
He told he would do some maintenance, but this sub-forum came as a surprise for me as well.
Greetz, Red.
On contrary, this is a wish of mine. We need to have a place to learn from competition

Agreed that avast is on the short end of covered programs but then again avast mission is not to catalog and notify every possible iteration of possible software programs one can run on their systems. Actually, as there have been issues with Secunia in the past I have found this program works well as it is self-contained and does not require installation to do its thing: https://patchmypc.net
Like Secunia it will auto-update and install the latest known secure versions of programs.

I tried your suggested program. It not only updated some outdated programs but also let me know of multiple installs of 4 programs.
It helped to solve a slowdown caused by Malwarebytes multi install. Thanks.

NP Bob. Very useful program and it does not have to be resident to run. You can post in the update section if you wish.
