My friend’s parents’ computer had multiple vundos on it, yet it didn’t have any of the symptoms wikipedia said. Today, malwarebytes found like 7 vundos on my stepdad’s computer, yet he didn’t have any symptoms. I also scanned my mom’s computer with malwarebytes and it found over 200 infections, almost all adware:mywebsearch, but it also found vundo, yet she seemingly had nothing wrong with her computer. Am I missing something here?
Download HiJackThis and post a log.
Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it’s done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from “Click the
Scan for Vundo button.” when VundoFix appears at reboot.
A log will be produced which you can post in your next response.
Maybe they were a not so bad variation, i see SUPERAntiSpyware have between 1 and 10 variations on every update, so there are lots of vundo variations
I don’t think I need the VundoFix since the Malwarebytes found it and removed the files without a problem. It’s just weird there was no adware, blue screens, fake avs, disabled avs, and all the other crap it’s supposed to do.
I recommend that you tell the computer users that they would be advised to change all their passwords, just in case.
Trojans that try to stay hidden have the character of stealing private data, I would think.
And if I’m wrong, no harm done by changing them anyway .
