whats wrong with avast?

Hi
I love avast. But i have noticed a very strange behaviour
Whatching the scan progress indicator( from 0 to 100%) i noticed it take so much time on 0% and only near to end of scan(about 30 min after the start of scan it jumps to 25% and then to 50 % and so on

What happened to the old correct scan indicator as it whas from 0% to 1% and so on?

This scan progress indicator is a mess…

What version do you use?last one is lunched is 10.4.2233.Set scan priority to high.It will less the time of the scan but slowdown the work of pc.No problem with scan progress indicator.

I use last version of premier 2233. the scan priority was already set to high
very strange behaviour

This is a very recently formatted machine running w10

Very strange

This happens to me with all kind of scans

any ideas?

Thanks

Hi
Any other idea about it?

The scan progress indicator SHOULD give an reliable info, but taking so much time at 0% and so jumping directelly to 25 or 50 % is a mess

I dont think its a problem with my machine as it was formatted less than 1 month ago

Please give me a solution or look into avast in order to solve it

Yesterday i bought a 3 yr license for my premier

I hope i dont have 3 yrs of this problem, oh my…

Hi rodrigo.santos.vecchio

Yes, the scan progress indicator behaves a little strange.
Consider it as a cosmetic problem, and nothing serious

Greetz, Red.

Hi Red

Glad to see im not crazy and not alone on this point

I have using avast many years

This scan indicator is very… confused on this way

I hope avast team look into it

Thank you for your reply

One of the issues with things like this (% indicators), before it can actually start showing progress it has to analyse the data which is going to be scanned to get an idea of how long it will take or how far it has got.

As i said, i have been using avast for a long time

The scan progress indicator used to show a useful and correct info before( scan from 0% to 1 % and so on)

Now it show o% by almost the hole scan, then jumps like crazy to 25, then 40 % or any other number

Bring back the ld correct scan progress or rePlace this scan indicator with some kind of color bar without %progress indicator

Thank you

Personally I feel that scheduled on-demand scans on a resident on-access antivirus are much depreciated.

For the most part the on-demand scan is going to be scanning inert/dormant files, if they were active then the on-access scanner should scan them.

Hi,

checked this and it seems that it happens only on Windows 10. I also tried on internal build and it works fine. So it will be fixed in next release. Sorry for inconvenience.

Martin

Hello Martin And friends,

glad to know it seems the problem will be resolved soon,

Waiting for the next build

If the problem sill persists after the new build, i will return on this

I also would like to thank you all the people who spend your time helping me about this issue

Thank you all

Hi,
checking the first beta of 2016 and i have the SAME same behaviour

The scan progress show 0% by almost the hole scan
and them it jumps like crazy to 40 % or any other number

I thought this issue was resolved with 2016 version…

very frustrating

:frowning:

Hi,

sorry tried again, and it works fine on my PC. Do you have a standard folder structure (default windows/program files folders etc?) Does anyone else here have the same problem?

The issues with scans speed is fixed. In Beta 2

sorry but still no joy to me about this issue

thank you

see by yourself

Thank you

Hey no problem with that it is a nomal beraviour it goes 0% to 2% in beta 2 v.2016.

You need to read the whole topic or just the first post or certainly is URL reference above Reply #14.

It isn’t normal behaviour as described by the OP rodrigo.santos.vecchio, it shouldn’t sit on 0% for long periods of time and then suddenly jump to 25% or 50% or 100%.

it shouldn't sit on 0% for long periods of time and then suddenly jump to 25% or 50% or 100%
No for my pc it not sit 0% for long periods of time and not suddenly jump to 25% or 50% or 100% at all.It first start at 0% for 5-6 second and then 2%.3%....go on normally@DavidR.But if he thinks It isn't normal behaviour then support Ticket should help.https://support.avast.com

@Be secure,
If the scan stay on 0% for about 5 or 6 SECONDS this should be normal

In my case , the scan stay on 0% for about 15 MINUTES and then jumps for some sort of %~

On the second 2016 beta it jumps from 0 to 16 or 19 % and no, i dont think thats normal

I only forgot to say i have a partitioned HD (C;D) And i ask Avast team to test the behavior of scan under this scenario

If Avast team can say my problem is due my partitioned hd, i even ask to fix it, since its not normal this behaviour been caused by a partitioned hd

Remember, this machine was formatted in order to install a clean copy of win10 pro 64 bit

I hope i dont have 3 yrs of this mess as i already say

Please fix it

Thanks
