When a system has continuous and cheap access to a WiFi internet connection, all the checking and downloading and updating can be useful. However, there are times when access to an internet connection is very limited and very expensive. For example, when on a cruise ship the WiFi speed is low (way less than 1Mbps) and costs around 60 cents a minute! So it is extremely painful to turn on your system and have a bunch of checking and downloading and updating happen automatically.
I have figured out how to kill such activities in most programs (Google Chrome being a real pain) and now I have to deal with even more such activities in Avast.
Is there any documentation on which features of Avast lead to use of WiFi and how to disable them?
