Does any one know when version 5 of avast comes out?
It is expected in the first half of 2009 … so anytime between January 1 (highly unlikely) to June 30 (quite likely).
Check back in these forums for more information on the beta program for the new release (which will, of course, precede the general release).
I believe the avast team will not move forward until they are satisfied with the quality of the new product. From my long years in managing software development I believe much more in the tilting the balance to, as far as possible, meeting a quality threshold rather than a date deadline in the delivery of a new product. If the managers of the new release have done their calculations and crystal ball gazing right then both conditions will align.
