It made me angry! My computer is slow when the Avasy is uploading!!! I have ASDL connection.
Is I didn’t any reply I’ll leave to use Avast for ever! >:(
What other thing is loading in your desktop^^?
If there is a lot then your startup will be slow!
Hi heavy,
Unfortunately, some topics can get lost in the mix, it happens…
Your issue;
I am not too sure, but I think it may be more down to your system, not the connection. I used to have similar issues when I used an older computer.
What you could try (if you still want to stick with avast!):
Right click avast! tray icon → program settings → ‘troubleshooting’ tab → Check: ‘Delay loading of avast! services after other system services’
Or if that doesn’t work, you could try delaying the update check, using the avast4.ini file, outlined here:

What operating system are you using? if xp you need at least 256mb ram to run smoothly 512mb or higher is recommended. Hard drive needs to be on DMA IF AVAILIBLE Not PIO Mode!. Alot of things on start up will cause a slow computer ie lots of items in the system tray bottom of vdu screem right hand!
shiw liang: My desktop is clean and I don’t use screensavers. Aways my computer delays when Avast is uploading…
Thank you for the tip, spg SCOTT!
I’ll test here and if it continues, I’ll reply this thread!
Bobo1: I use Windows XP and my computer is a Seprom 64-bit 1.7ghz 512MBb ram, HD 80GB.
Have you run disk clean up recently & defragged the boot drive C:\ ? under properties local disk tools.
You have plenty of ram and your computer is relitively a quick one compaired to mine.
My computer pauses breifly when updating only for a few seconds before update sliding box appears.
(OLD WORK HORSE IBM 600E PENTIUM 2 352MB OF RAM :D)
