When Avast free is doing a scheduled scan why doesn’t it at least go around and around during the whole scan?
The reason why i am asking is that a person can accidentally shut off the computer in the middle of a scan because one can forget it is set to do a scheduled scan. You cannot tell it is doing a scan unless you open the program.
I have had many clients do exactly that because they were not in front of the computer when it was set to scan and forgot it was doing a scan. At least if the avast icon in the taskbar was moving while the scheduled scan was happening this would have caught their eye and they would not have gone to shut it down so fast.

Why not have the scan Shut down the system completes in the scan settings. Whilst this won’t stop then shutting the system down, If they have a regular day to schedule the scan say Thursday at a time just after they would go home, etc. so they know on that day to leave the system running.
The other option is to use the Screen Saver (or when idle) scan option so it is regularly cycles through a scan so it isn’t so critical if the system were to be shut down.
yeah, Avast should still be seriously thinking to add a animation in the icon tray when a scan is running, that’s the first AV version that I use not showing anything…when a scheduled scan is running and you’re doing something else, the only way you notice is when system activity suddenly goes up.
I don’t see why they didn’t have that as it really follows what 4.8 users were familiar with, I know they want a new look but one of the good things was the icon animation when scanning, as if nothing else it shows it is working.
why not use the screensaver scan ! already suggested… :-X
