Greetings everyone,

My response to this post title:

1. Last infected in early 2012.

2. Infected by: Sirefef Trojan, Gen

3. Method of infection: still unknown. Suspect it occurred while online.

My computer displayed no symptoms. At the time I had been offline for about 5 minutes and performed one of my several, daily anti-malware scans with SAS, which subsequently detected the Sirefef Trojan. Either the trojan itself, or perhaps during the disinfection process by SAS, the ipsec.sys file was removed, thus preventing Internet access & hence, obtaining help here in the Forums. Had to take the computer to a repair shop to resolve issue; Cost: $123.00 (USD). (Didn’t have a 2nd computer on hand to use).

Security software in use at the time: Avast (free), Outpost Firewall Pro, MBAM Pro (real-time scanning enabled), Spywareblaster, SAS (on-demand).

Also, at that time I was not yet using Firefox w/ NoScript as I do now. Was still using IE. Computer OS in use at the time was a Win XP Pro, SP3.

Regards,
