When will the firewall module get a makeover?
I mean its not useless but its really bad.
Even the Windows firewall is better manageable.
Main problems:
- You can browse to an .exe to create an application rule but you can’t edit the selected .exe afterwards (very unfriendly when Firefox gets an update).
- You can’t change the name of the rule, making it a mess of weird .exe names
- If you have multiple rules with the same name (because of updated software) you can’t see which is what, I end up deleting them all and make new ones.
- You can’t create a rule from the log when a program is blocked
How it should work:
- Create a rule with a name and add ports, like port 80 and 443, browse to .exe files (ie. all your browers) and save.
- You can then edit this rule if things change.
Avast is most likely made to be set on auto but that defeats the purpose of the whole firewall.
I updated to IS from Free a few years back but after every update the firewall stays the same.
I don’t give anything about Grimefighter or Browser cleanup just make the existing modules better.
