When Avast takes it upon itself to quarantine or remove something… where does it go?
I launched a program that I was not having any trouble with in the past and while clicking the “Check for Updates” button, Avast took the piece of program, the update.exe file and removed it. My main program still works but I no longer have the ability to check for updates.
When Avast takes it upon itself to quarantine or remove something.... where does it go?
well, could be moved to chest (quarantine = malware prison) or deleted
there should have been a popup message from avast saying what it did and giving a malware detection name
if you have not rebooted since it happend, right click avast tray icon and select show last popup
When it has entered the chest malware can no longer do any harm, the virus chest functions like a virus prison or a malware vault, what gets in there cannot escape only be restored by the user when it later is found that the malware isn’t malware, but a false positive and that what is in the chest is harmless - most detections however are genuine and what is in the chest stays there and can be deleted after some time (say a fortnight). What is deleted goes to digital oblivion, is being overwritten, cannot be restored.
Well it is to be preferred that the computer never meets such malware files, so when Avast blocks the computer from going somewhere in the first place, an infection cannot take place and nothing has to be sent to the chest or being deleted right away.
