Since I re-registered my Avast Free AV towards the end of January, I seem to have lost the icon to activate GrimeFighter which I purchased last July.
The only thing that I can see is that there are no licences registered for my machine, and elsewhere a request to enter the activation key for any products, which I can’t find on the e-mails that were sent when I made the purchase.
Programs show Avast Free AV Version: 10.0.2208, which I believe is the latest one released, but GrimeFighter is not listed. Can it be downloaded again from Avast without having to pay for it again, and if so, how does one go about doing it?
OK, downloaded the version you linked, but am now unable to open Avast. I am getting the error message: Failed to load Language dll (1033\UIlangRes.dll)
Windows 7 Security Panel says that Avast informs it that Avast is active, but there is no icon in taskbar to confirm this.
Have completed a clean install and am now on version 2015.10.0.2208 which I downloaded from Avast via the Cnet downloader. I have run the change facility in Programs with the Grimefighter box ticked, but GrimeFighter still does not appear in the menu when Avast is opened.
Hopefully you can help some more.
Edited to add:
Not being too technically minded about computers, I have chosen not to download from the link that you provided as that is still a Beta version and I believe that some of you “gurus” are experiencing problems with it, as I did initially.
Have now updated to the new version of 2015.10.2.2214, and after that ran the change facility, but I still do not appear to have GrimeFighter available to me. And the Account page shows that I have no licences that can be used. Surely the subscription that I paid last July for a year’s usage of GrimeFighter should be registered as a paid for licence.
However, having had a look at the FAQs, I can only confirm that the “button” to Scan for performance issues" does not appear now, and hasn’t since I renewed my Avast Free AV towards the end of January.
How do I move on from this point, considering that I still have 4 months subscription left to run?
Seemed to be unable to download without paying another subscription, but managed to still do a GrimeFighter scan, and the Avast server managed to mate it up with with my licence, and I think that it worked.
