Where is "Safe Zone"?

I just bought Avast! Internet Security for 3 computers.

An Avast! pop-up told me about Safe Zone. Said I HAVE it, so I should USE it!

Only problem is, it isn’t where it’s supposed to be…in the “Additional Protection” tab. In that tab I see: Antispam, Sandbox, AutoSandbox, WebRep, and SiteBlocking, but NO Safe Zone.

Where is it???

Thanks,
Renny

Right click the icon on system tray and choose “Switch to SafeZone”.

Thanks for quick response, but: Safe Zone isn’t in that menu either.

Now what?

Thanks,
Renny

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

Thank you again for your quick response.

I tried to uninstall Avast (from the Win7 Control Panel) but received an error message.

So…Avast is still installed, but not in the sys tray, so I started it up again and got a message like “Danger, your computer is not protected!” … so I turned that computer off.

The computers that have brand new Avast installations are working fine, including “SafeZone”.

The computer that was upgraded from free Avast is the one with the problems…

Thanks,
Renny

I suggest an installation from scratch:

  1. Download the latest version of avast! Uninstall Utility and save it.
  2. Download the latest avast! version and save it.
  3. Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
  4. Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you’ve run it.
  5. Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.
  6. Register your free copy or add the license key for Pro. Or even upgrade your key from old versions.
  7. Check and post the results. If, for any reason, you did not solve, try doing the step 3 in Safe Mode anyway.

Thank you. Your last suggestion worked great
