Where is "Show Activity" feature in Avast Mobile version 5

Hello,

Where is “Show Activity” feature in new Avast Mobile security version 5? Why it is absent from new user interface?

Hi,

the “Activity log” as we call is not in AMS5 at the moment, but will be added in the future (my humble guess is in several weeks, but don’t take this as a guarantee).

Filip

As Filip said, currently it’s not part of the app, because we couldn’t finish it on time for the release of new version 5. But we’re working on it right now, so it should soon be back.

Why release an unfinished and non-secure app? I really cannot believe this is Avast. Has the company been hacked? Or is it just all about money now?

Hi,

I’m not sure how “Activity log” relates to the actual security provided by the app. Care to elaborate?

Filip

To see if this current app actually does anything other than display kids drawings (and adverts of course!).

Why this icon is all the time in my nexus 7 tablet? :o

There is not any issues in my tablet.

So you are talking about perceived security, not real security  In that case I see the relation.

Filip

A disappointing response, but somewhat indicative of how far Avast have fallen and how little empathy and respect they have for their customers now. :frowning:

What I’m aiming at is the real security changed very little if at all, the perceived security is what changed.

Filip

So why change it at all. Makes no sense to give us a childs candy wrapper in place of what was once the best mobile AV out there, with no apparent resident protection, no obvious scanning of apps and no way to see what has been checked or scanned etc. If it is a beta of some kids version of AV, why not keep the actual app available. My guess is that you will, but we will need to pay a premium for its protection, and only the fake AV version with pictures but no protection will remain for those who don’t upgrade. As I said, that new headquarters has to be paid for.

Hi,

the data will tell us if the users like the app as it is or not. As I said elsewhere, never say never, it might be that we reintroduce premium for users that want an app without ads, it might be that we’ll change the design of the app (and that will of course happen as it happen several times before), it might be that we reintroduce old features (like we are planning with firewall for example), the product may completely change, be discontinued or whatever, you (and we) never know.

It’s OK to tell us your opinion, but there is no reason to be offensive in any way. You, the users, will at the end decide if we are going the right way or not. If we’ll see massive amounts of users leaving the app for the competition, we’ll probably change things. If 99,9% of the userbase is happy with the app, we’ll keep it and proceed to the same direction. Simple as that.

Filip

Basically, I just want to know if AMS5 is still an AV app with resident protection or is it just a candy wrapper for adverts and premium Avast apps. Sure, you tell us it is, but we no longer have any way of knowing what it actually does. For all we know it could be the greatest scam of all time to have millions of customers who have trusted Avast for years and follow their advice to always update to latest version to maximise protection, who have now unwittingly installed some other type of app completely. It was all done so secretively, and even the screenshots were not updated for many days. Just doesn’t feel right to me. Avast were never like this. Greed is a powerful drug I suppose…

So the ads are here to stay unless we buy premium? I am unable to verify them but what kind of ads are we talking about? Because I’ve seen google feature many ads for scam sites and fake anti-viruses. If that’s what I sould expect from avast, then no thanks, I don’t want anything to do with them anymore.

Everyone should have already received email about the premium subscription cancellation. If not, send me a PM with the email address you bought your license to and I’ll check it out. We are cancelling all subscriptions on your behalf as we speak, but Google API for that has certain limitations so it’s gonna take a few days at minimum.
