Where's the mail-setup wizard for non-Outlook-clients?

Hi there!

After a long time with IE/Outlook I decided to go back to Firefox/Thunderbird because of the security holes in the first two…

Now my question:

In Avast 4.1 there was a little programm called “e-Mail Setup Wizard” which changed all neccessary parameters in non-Outlook-Clients. Where is this tool now? I’m using 4.6 home.

After I checked my thunderbird-email-accounts I noticed that there where no changes like in the “good old times” of avast (this 127.0.0.1 things in the server name etc).

So do I have to setup my accounts manually to get it working with avast? If yes - can someone give me a short description of what to do (It’s a long time since I set up an eMail-Account for Avast manually :D)?

Greetings

Timo

What operating system do you use?

It is still there in 4.6, depending on what OS you use. NT based OS don’t need it now.

So if you haven’t changed OS as well, you should be able to run the Mail Protection Wizard and select protect all and future accounts (or words to that effect).

Okay - could it be true that in Version 4.1 even NT-based OS did need this wizard for configuring non-Outlook-clients?

yes, but since 4.5 you just need to set up your email client as if avast wasn’t there, avast will do the rest.

KK - thanks for the great support

Yes it did, but there had already been and update to version 4.5 which didn’t need it for NT based OS. I made the assumption (incorrectly, It has been a long time since 4.1) you had already got 4.5 and were updating to 4.6.
