Which free spyware protection goes good with Avast?

I know you can use a few antispyware and that Avast does have its own Spyware protection…I have been using Spywareblaster and Spybot S&D…I’m not very happy with Spybot and keep it off except for Immunization…Also once in a while I do scans for Log Files and tracking cookies with it …Geez by the time Spybot loads itself I can do a quick scan with Avast… and Spybot still loading…I like Spywareblaster though…It’s maintenance free and bug free…I also connect directly to my laptop and don’t use wireless in the house…so I don’t care much for Firewalls…I’m also wondering if anyone’s using Security Essentials with Avast and if it’s a possibillity…cause they both have antivirus…I do use Malwarebytes as scanner only, and second opinion…Any suggestions would be appreciated…Thanxs

Well avast itself is already a good anti-spyware
With malwarebytes covering rogues stuffs and other malwares you can relax
About Spybot and Spywareblaster’s Immunisation, they are the same I think…
You can use only one, I would recommend to remove spybot if too heavy/buggy.

MSE I’m not quite sure it would go well with avast…because both are antiviruses…and two antiviruses aren’t reccomended.

Do not run both Avast! and MSE. Or any other 2 AVs. This will likely do you more harm than good. Avast! has anti-spy functions already, but giving it a help with Spywareblaster isn’t a terrible idea, imo. If “you don’t care much for firewalls” I would hope you at least have an external firewall built into your router? If not, at least run Windows firewall. No firewall is a terrible idea.

Mbam is a good choice for a second opinion…
Drop Spybot and Spywareblaster.
And you should definitely use a firewall…!!!

About dropping the SpywareBlaster I’m quite unsure about it…

Hi folks,

Still with spywareblaster, is continuously being updated, good for added-in-browser security of major browsers, make a system snapshot once in a while to compare with,

No problem with that…!
I just stated my opinion…

Ok

I use both Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware on demand on a fairly regular basis but they never find anything. That’s not to say that they never will though so I keep them around just in case. Malwarebytes did a great job of removing a rogue antivirus that had gotten past MSE on the other machine here. Actually it only got by because the user (not me lol) didn’t respond correctly to the alert she got and mistakenly allowed the rogue to partially install and keep giving popups that she was not protected and needed to scan and get the fake AV. She thought the UAC alert was referring to MSE and not the rogue and clicked on allow. Malwarebytes completely removed every part of it and I didn’t even have to go into safe mode to run it.

I have Malwarebytes Full and it would have stopped the infection from being installed and for a one time licence fee the added protection for my systems is well worth it and I do have 2 licenses.
