What is better Auslogics Defrag, Puran Defrag, Defraggler or UltraDefrag?
I use the one built into windows 7. always keeps the fragmentation to a minimum
without any intervention from me. 
I’d rather Auslogics due to its configurability.
Defraggler is useful in case of single files.
I never tested UltraDefrag, lying, once. But didn’t like it. Or need it.
Never tested Puran.
I personally like Puran because it has boot time defragging.
I’m asking 'cause the one built into 7 is pitifully slow.
Auslogics is very fast.
Puran is almost as fast as Auslogics, but has boot time scanner.
UltraDefrag has a 64bit defragger. I like the idea of a 64bit defragger for my 7 64bit os.

I have tried many defraggers, including PerfectDisk (which in my opinion should be renamed Imperfect Disk), Smart Defrag (which I didn’t find all that smart), JK Defrag (way too slow), Defraggler and others and the one I like the best is the excellent free offering from Auslogics. It’s lightning fast with excellent optimization routines that actually work and as has been said, is very configurable to your liking.
Well, Puran has a boot time defragmenter, a lot of “mysterious” features called “fill gaps” and PIOZR (Pure Intelligent Optimizer)…
The final result is, well, disappointing… Couldn’t it do better at boot time?
I know, the MFT and registry files get defragmented… but seems to much noise for nothing…

i have used defraggler it defrags fast but dint find much speed difference…i then tried diskkeeper, awesome, i could really find speed difference b4 and after a week of installing it(due to background auto defrag)…within the trial period i found notable difference.hope u too feel it
I would never use the background auto-defrag feature. I also would never use a boot defrag or scheduled defrag option. It’s just a useless amount of wear and tear on the hard drives. You don’t need to be constantly degragging the drive. even once a week is probably a lot more than needs to be done to keep performance up. In these days of very fast drives defragging is nowhere near as beneficial as it used to be and some will even say that it has no benefits at all any more, especially in the case of large files. In most cases, once a month is all that should be done.

Well I choose Auslogics Defrag why it Australian made product by very clever Aussies people like me ;), and I’ve had no major problem with it and it free and very safe I say. I’ll only defrag my HD once every 8 months because I’m no a heavy PC user at home unless I’m doing a major Structural design project using AutoCAD with a lot of chop and change.
When you install Auslogics Defrag please watch out for ask toolbar before you go to far installing this product, it defrag fast and very safe and you don’t need to defrag your PC every week or every month. It very safe for your HD to last a lot longer by doing defrag at least 6 or 8 months I do agree with Dch48 post ;).
Try it easy and very safe made by the good guys because they do really care about your PC not like wear and tear of your HD, they also said backup of your HD is also very important some defrag product can damage you HD very easy if your not very careful ;).
I’ve tried a few including auslogics and puran. However I prefer (free) puran due to it’s speed, boot time scanner and fill in the gaps.
@ Tech, What happened to your machine? Mine never looks like that. Do you have multiple partitions?

I prefer defraggler, as it has a really good quick defrag option and after analysing a drive you can also choose single files only for defragmentation, which can be really useful and time-saving…!

Yes, I have. That is only the C drive.
The fragmentation is due to System Restore files… Which I’ve though will defragmented at boot time, but didn’t…
The reason is, Auslogics Disk Defrag defaults to just “defrag”, whereas Windows built-in defrag defragments and optimizes files which takes longer.
If you hit the drop down box in auslogics, you have several options, analyze, defrag, or defrag and optimize.
I don’t find Auslogic’s any faster than windows when using the optimize feature, but I still love it for XP and 2003 systems due to the scheduling abilities that are missing from those operating systems.
Auslogics also has a background defrag (for those who haven’t found it yet).

I have found that Auslogics will defragment the system restore files in XP but it doesn’t seem to in Vista.
That’s the beauty of the Auslogics program, you can choose to do just a regular defrag, which is all you need in most cases ( and is extremely fast) , or a full defrag and optimize which probably only needs to be done quarterly at most. Even when running the optimization I find it faster than the XP defrag tool. I really don’t like the Vista defragger because it doesn’t show you information about the disk like the XP one does. In Auslogics, there are also options for the kind of optimization you want. You can choose to have system files placed at the front of the disk and the latest version will only move those system files that actually have an impact on performance. I personally only use that feature once in a great while since I figure that once moved, the files will stay there. The other times I optimize , I only use the basic optimization which consolidates free space and eliminates most of the gaps on the disk.
